On Saturday 12th December, members of the branch will be out and about visiting pubs in the area and are hoping to find some hidden gems in North Nottinghamshire.
If you know of a real ale serving pub in Bassetlaw that you think is worth a visit, then let us know.

RNLI Presentation

23:14 - 04/12/2008

The North Nottinghamshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has presented the RNLI with a cheque for over £2000 to help save lives at sea.
During October's beer festival run by the branch, £1002.97 was raised from the raffle, tombola, donations and sales of beer from the Blue Cow Brewery near Grantham. Barclays Bank have kindly agreed to double that amount, bringing the final total to £2005.94p.
Commenting on the donation, Stephen Smythe from the RNLI said, “£2000 will train two crew members for a year or kit two crew members with all of the waterproof equipment that they need.”
The RNLI relies solely on donations for its income, as it receives no money from the Government. Their lifeguards patrol more than 100 beaches in the UK in peak season and assisted almost 10,000 people last year. During the same period RNLI lifeboats rescued almost 8,000 people, an average of 21 people per day.
The cheques were presented in a ceremony on Wednesday 3rd December at the Mallard pub in Worksop railway station. The evening also featured a talk on wine making by local amateur wine expert Colin Tweed.
