Welcome to the website for the North Nottinghamshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)
Festival Over For Another Year
19:10 - 12/10/2008
After three days showcasing some of the country's best drinks, the North Notts Beer and Cider Festival 2008 is over. Twenty-four beers, two ciders and two perries were available, all of them enjoyed by everyone who attended.
The barrel of Blue Cow Best Bitter was two pints away from selling out when the festival closed on Saturday night. All the money taken over the bar for that drink will be donated to the RNLI together with the takings from the Raffle and Tombola. This will then be doubled by Barclays Bank. Although the final amount raised has not been finalised yet, we are confident that last year's total of £1402 has been beaten.
The first and only beer to sell out was Acorn Brewery's Yorkshire Pride. This light and refreshing 3.7% beer proved to be very popular in its first appearance at a CAMRA Beer Festival.
The title of Festival Beer of the Year will be decided by the branch in the next few weeks.
Thanks goes to the staff of the Station Hotel and Shireoaks Inn for providing the food for the festival. Thanks also goes to the Mansfield CAMRA Branch for allowing us to hire some of their equiment.
